You can find good BBQ just about anywhere in the United States and Maine certainly has some great picks. But, you might be surprised to know just how many choices there are in a state known for their amazing seafood.

Portland, ME specifically caught our attention after reading hundreds of reviews about the great options available. Here’s a few of the top picks;

1. Terlingua – After a few moments here you may completely forget what state you’re in. BBQ with a southwestern flare will transport you to an entirely different region. Reviews of the place not only rave about the food and atmosphere, but say the service is top notch!
2. Salvage BBQ – This rustic BBQ joint serves up some of the best ribs in the northeast. Their full selection of craft beer and many concerts keep the Mainers coming back.
3. Wilson County BBQ – “Wow, deliciousness” is how one reviewer summed it up. And if you don’t believe us, check out the photo of chicken and waffles on their website! baby back ribs are a crowd favorite but there’s a couple incredible reviews of their fried chicken sandwich!
4. Noble BBQ – Noble has side dishes that rival any great BBQ spot in the country. Reviews online rave about their collard greens, “old school coleslaw,” and griddled corn muffins.
5. Elsmere BBQ & Wood Grill – Fans love the “tender, smoky” pulled pork, their slow smoked chicken wings and the chili nachos! One of our favorite reviews is seeing how many noted the friendly staff and service and that certainly is the case here!
