After several days of sub-zero temperatures in the Lenexa, Kansas area, February weather finally gave way to a beautiful sunny afternoon. Area man, David, took advantage of the sunshine and hit a local dog park / recreation area for some outdoor fun.

His excitement was quickly brought to a halt, however. David heard distressed “yelping,” and quickly focused his attention to a dog trapped in the ice. Without hesitation, he began the backbreaking process of breaking through the ice to reach the dog and create a path they could swim back to shore safely. A couple of other Kansas good samaritans jumped in to help out David and the pup.
